Obasa’s third term election simmered the ongoing speculation that the lawmakers had decided to back another candidate, Honourable representing Epe constituency 2, Abiodun Tobun, claiming that the third term speaker failed to enjoy the party’s support as the head of the state legislative arm of government.

While taking the oath of office, Obasa, who has been in the state house of assembly since 2003 swore to perform his function honestly to the best of his ability.

Born in Agege in Lagos state on November 11th, 1972, Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa attended St Thomas Acquinas School for his primary education before proceeding to Archbishop Aggey Memorial Secondary Schools, Mushin Ilasamaja for his secondary education.

Obasa headed to Lagos State University to obtain a bachelor’s degree in Law in 2006. He was called to the bar in 2007, in the Nigeria Law School. He also obtained a certificate course on Legislation, UK Parliament, and Leadership Training at Cambridge University, UK.

In 2003, Obasa was elected as a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, and he was elected as the speaker for the first term in 2015.

As a returning speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa is expected to perform his role by keeping orders without biases and partiality. He is also saddled with the role of keeping the executive on its toe as the watchdog.
