A claim circulating on social media says that suspected Accord Party thugs attacked APC members at an Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) distribution centre at ADS Grammar School, Iloro, Ile-Ife, around 1:38 a.m. The message also names several individuals reportedly responsible for the attack.
The claim began circulating on social media in the early hours of election day, August 15, 2026, as voters prepared to participate in the Osun State governorship election.
The X handle @fattylincorn_01 posted blurred-out photos of a macheted arm; however, the picture cropped out the man’s face. Attached to the photos is the caption, “Accord thugs attack Ife East INEC Distribution Centre Around 1:38 a.m.
Reports reaching us indicate that suspected Accord Party thugs, allegedly led by Abayomi Aworeni, popularly known as Yomex, who was reportedly arrested with cash to bribe INEC officials; Hon. Olumide Fatunmise, Ife East State Assembly member; and Yinka Adeniji, aka Gbogbo Abe, Lekan Akamo, reportedly accompanied by Amotekun personnel, including Elufidipe Eluwole, attacked APC members at the INEC distribution centre at ADS Grammar School, Iloro, Ile-Ife, around 1:38 a.m.
The incident is deeply concerning, especially as Osun goes to the polls today. We call on the security agencies to urgently investigate the incident, protect all political parties and their members, and ensure that anyone found responsible is brought to justice.
Election-related violence must not undermine the democratic process in Osun State.
