CLAIM:
That Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso deleted his X (formerly Twitter) post reacting to U.S. President Donald Trump’s designation of Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern.”
VERDICT: False. The post remains on his official X page and has not been deleted.
FULL STORY
A claim circulating on X, posted by user @nobleigwe, alleges that Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, former governor of Kano State and 2023 New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) presidential candidate, deleted his reaction to President Donald Trump’s designation of Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern.”
President Trump announced on October 31, 2025, via a Truth Social post later shared on the official White House X HANDLE, with an allegation of an ongoing Christian genocide in Nigeria.
Responding on November 2, 2025, Kwankwaso published a detailed statement on his verified X account, expressing concern over the designation and calling for constructive diplomatic engagement between Nigeria and the United States. He emphasised Nigeria’s sovereignty, the complex nature of insecurity across the country, and the need for U.S. support through technology, diplomacy, and collaboration.
The post reads, “I have noted with increasing concern the heightened pronouncements on Nigeria by President Donald Trump. This follows his designation of Nigeria as a “country of particular concern.”
It is important to emphasise that our country is a sovereign nation whose people face different threats from outlaws across the country. The insecurity we face does not distinguish based on religious, ethnic, or political beliefs.
The United States should assist the Nigerian authorities with better cutting-edge technology to tackle these problems, rather than posing a threat that could further polarise our country.
The Nigerian government should also consider appointing special envoys from its distinguished diplomats to engage the American government.
Additionally, it is necessary to appoint permanent ambassadors to represent Nigeria’s interests on the international stage.
To my fellow countrymen, this is an important moment where we should emphasise unity of belonging over division. God bless Nigeria. – RMK”
However, on November 4, 2025, @nobleigwe claimed that Kwankwaso had deleted the post, sparking heated reactions across the platform.
“So the same people who hailed Kwankwaso as the ‘strong man’ and mocked Peter Obi as ‘weak’ , what do they have to say now that Kwankwaso has deleted his tweet? Does strength suddenly have a new definition, or we should shut up?” his post read.
His allegation gathered significant traction with over 154,000 views, 5,000 likes, and more than 1,400 reposts, alongside comments accusing the politician of inconsistency and cowardice.
Some of the comments under the post read:
@eboss2002: They’re all cowards and terrorists sympathisers
@obakenonyebuchi: A bunch of loafers. Kwankwaso is taking a cue from Tinubu. Remember, it was Tinubu started to delete his tweets on the Christian genocide. The disappointing side is that Trump is delaying the arrival of our destiny helpers. I want them today, today.
@preciousIG17212: Do you take those double-faced nitwits serious chai.
Despite the widespread speculation, NDRFactCheck’s investigation confirms that the claim is untrue.
A keyword search and manual review of Kwankwaso’s official X timeline show that the statement is still publicly available, unchanged, and continues to attract engagement from users.
CONCLUSION
Kwankwaso did not at any point delete his post, as it is still up and gathering reactions. Members of the public are advised to verify information before they share.
