A post circulating on X on 30th March, 2026, has been circulating, claiming that the government of Germany has rejected the ambassadorial nomination of Chief Femi Fani-Kayode.
The claim emerged from a viral post shared by Rinu Oduala on social media with the news originally from Peoples Gazette. The post was presented as “breaking news”, suggesting that Germany had officially declined Fani-Kayode’s ambassadorial nomination.
The post quotes, ‘BREAKING: Germany has rejected Femi Fani-Kayode’s ambassadorship due to his erratic behaviour, divisive ethnocentric comments, tribalistic utterances.’
– and religious fundamentalist statements. They say his words and actions are “destabilising” and they can’t accept him.”
When the claim was found, it already had 538 comments, 1.5k retweets, 3.6k likes, and 75.3k views, ostensibly due to the public perception of Chief Femi Fani-Kayode and his controversial public statements in the past. There have been ongoing discussions around political appointments by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, with a section of the public being very critical of some of the appointments.
Negative news travels fast, but it may not be accurate. NDRFactcheck decided to verify the accuracy of the report, especially because it could spark diplomatic controversy between the two countries. This is also coming soon after reports of similar rejections of nominees to other Asian countries.

Verification
NDRFactcheck investigated the veracity; it emerged that Femi Fani-Kayode had come out to publicly debunk the post as not true. According to him, on his X handle, “Fake news everywhere.” 🤣. These opposition elements are so pained by my appointment, and they are doing everything to discredit me and scuttle it. Whether they like it or not, I will serve my country! Keep crying! 🤣.”
Furthermore, it was revealed that a group of Nigerians in the diaspora called the Global
The Coalition for Security and Democracy in Nigeria (GCSDN) had earlier sent a formal letter to the German president, foreign ministry, and embassy, urging them not to accept Femi Fani‑Kayode as an ambassador.
However, no German authority has issued any rejection or response, meaning the viral claim that Germany “rejected” him is based solely on the group’s petition, not on any official German decision.
The petition was published by The Nigeria Voice dated 16th March, 2026.
Conclusion
Findings show that the claim that Germany rejected Femi Fani-Kayode’s ambassadorship is not supported by any credible evidence. Although a group petitioned the German government to reject his nomination, there is no official statement or confirmation from the German authorities indicating that such a rejection occurred.
