Fact-check: Oyebamiji’s Claim That 97% of Osun’s Resources Are Concentrated in Two Local Governments Is Unproven

Claim: The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Oyebamiji, claims that 97 percent of Osun State’s resources are concentrated in two local governments.

During a town hall meeting organised by AriseTV in Osogbo, the state capital of Osun State, on 11 August 2026, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Oyebamiji, claimed that 97% of Osun State’s resources are concentrated in two local governments.

He described the development as an aberration and criminal while responding to a question at the town hall meeting.

In a similar claim, a graphic circulating on social media alleges that Osun State’s governor allocated 72% of the state’s resources to Ede, the hometown of Adeleke, the incumbent governor and candidate of the Accord Party in the contest.

Adeleke is contesting for a second term in the August 15, 2026, off-cycle governorship election.

The graphic includes a table claiming that Ede Federal Constituency received eight of 20 major projects, worth ₦260.5 billion out of ₦362.3 billion, or 71.9% of the total.

It also claims that a second term is forbidden for someone like him.

The graphic was produced by an APC support group campaigning for its candidate.

During elections, politicians sometimes spread misinformation or disinformation to influence voters. NDRFactcheck investigated the claim.

Our Findings 

Firstly, the official Osun State 2025 Approved Budget contains projects allocated to different parts of the state. For example, the budget records: Urban Renewal Project, Ede North – ₦350 million; Urban Renewal Project, Ilesa West – ₦700 million; Urban Renewal Project, Ife Central – ₦600 million; Road construction at Esa-Oke/Obokun – ₦37.33 million; Transformer installation at Ede North – ₦24.12 million; Transformer installation at Ile-Ife – ₦24.12 million; Transformer installation at Ilesa West – ₦24.12 million.

Another procurement document revealed the projects done in Ede. There is genuine evidence that substantial projects were awarded in Ede.

For example, Osun’s official e-procurement portal records the following:

Oke Gada-Adeleke University High School, Ede, with

• Budget amount: ₦9.9287 billion
• Contract award: ₦9.9224 billion
• Funding: Osun State 2025 Budget

Also, in April 2026, the Osun State Government’s own project review identified major projects in:

• Ile-Ife
• Osogbo
• Ila-Orangun
• Iwo
• Obokun/Ijesa
• and other areas.

These projects included flyovers and road dualisation in Ile-Ife, Osogbo, Ila-Orangun, and Iwo, as well as roads and bridges in Obokun.

In July 2026, the government also announced ongoing rural infrastructure projects in Ayedire and Olaoluwa, including the Telemu–Ilemowu–Ogbagba road.

Conclusion

NDRFactcheck could not find a comprehensive list of projects completed by the Osun State government since it took office or for 2026. Because Oyebamiji did not provide a timeframe for his claim, NDRFactcheck rates it as unproven. The same reasoning applies to the graphic produced by the APC support group.
