Congratulatory and goodwill messages have continued to pour in since the Independent National Electoral Commission declared Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji the winner of the Ekiti governorship election in the early hours of Sunday, following his clean sweep at the polls.
Governor Oyebanji won decisively in all 16 local government areas of Ekiti State, becoming the first civilian governor in the state’s history to secure consecutive terms and ending the long-standing pattern of single-term administrations.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu congratulated Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji on his resounding victory in Saturday’s election. He commended the people of Ekiti State for their peaceful and orderly conduct and for reposing their trust in Governor Oyebanji.
President Tinubu notes that Governor Oyebanji’s first term was marked by significant strides in infrastructure, agriculture, youth employment, education, healthcare, and rural development under the BAO agenda.
The renewed mandate is therefore a clear vote of confidence in continuity, stability, and people-centred governance. The President urged Governor Oyebanji to remain magnanimous in victory and to carry all Ekiti people along as he consolidates on his achievements in the next four years.
The President also commended all those who contested the election with the governor for exercising their democratic rights, saying it is now time to rally round Oyebanji in the task of taking Ekiti to the next level of governance.
Also, the Governor of Lagos State and Chairman of the South-West Governors Forum, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has congratulated Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, on his victory.
Sanwo-Olu also commended the electorate for the peaceful conduct of the election and for giving the ruling All Progressives Congress another mandate to govern the state.
He described Oyebanji’s landslide victory as a reflection of the governor’s popularity and the confidence reposed in him by the people of Ekiti State.
The Kaduna State Governor and Chairman of the APC National Campaign Council for the Ekiti State Governorship Election, Senator Uba Sani, has congratulated Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji on his victory.
In a statement issued following the announcement of the election results, Senator Uba Sani described Oyebanji’s victory as emphatic and well-deserved, noting that the governor secured a decisive 319,224 votes to earn a renewed mandate from the people of Ekiti State.
According to the Kaduna governor, the outcome of the election is a strong endorsement of Oyebanji’s performance in office, inclusive leadership style, and commitment to the development, stability, and progress of Ekiti State. He said the victory reflects the people’s confidence in continuity and the consolidation of achievements recorded under the governor’s administration.
Expressing satisfaction with the outcome of the election, the APC National Campaign Council chairman said he was pleased to have successfully carried out the assignment entrusted to the council by the ruling party. He thanked members of the council, including governors, National Assembly members, and political appointees, for their commitment and contributions to the victory.
Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma congratulated Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji on his decisive re-election in the Ekiti State governorship poll. Uzodimma, who chaired the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Campaign Council, stated that the overwhelming victory reflects Oyebanji’s quality leadership, performance in office, and the people’s trust.
Governor Dapo Abiodun, on behalf of the government and people of Ogun State, also heartily congratulated His Excellency, Governor Biodun Oyebanji, on his resounding victory at the Ekiti State governorship election.
“This overwhelming mandate is a clear affirmation of the confidence the good people of Ekiti State have in your visionary leadership, remarkable achievements, and unwavering commitment to the development and prosperity of the state. The impressive margin of victory reflects the trust and support you have earned through purposeful governance and people-oriented policies”.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya (Gombe) has also extended warm congratulations on behalf of Gombe State for the historic win of Governor Oyebanji.

INEC’S Declaration of Oyebanji as the Winner
The Independent National Electoral Commission declared the All Progressives Congress candidate, Governor Biodun Oyebanji, the winner of the Ekiti State governorship election held on Saturday after polling 319,224 votes, beating all other contestants across the state’s 16 local governments.
The Returning Officer for the election, Prof Adenike Oladiji, who is the Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Technology, Akure, announced the results in the early hours of Sunday at the INEC’s headquarters on Iyin Road in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.
Prof Oladiji said, “Therefore, I, Adenike, as the returning officer for the 2026 Ekiti governorship election…Oyebanji Abiodun Abayomi, having satisfied the requirements of the law, is hereby declared the winner and stands re-elected.”
The breakdown of the results shows that the APC polled 319,224 votes, the PDP candidate polled 40, 533 votes, and the ADC candidate amassed 12,872 votes.
