Sanwo-Olu, Hamzat, Others to Receive Certificates of Return on Thursday

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Lagos state has fixed Thursday, 30th, March 2023 for the issuance of Certificates of Return to the winners of the March 18th Gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections in the state. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Lagos state has fixed Thursday, 30th, March 2023 for the issuance of Certificates of Return to the winners of the March 18th Gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections in the state.

Mr Olusegun Agbaje, INEC’s Resident Electoral Commissioner in Lagos, confirmed this in a statement issued by Mrs Adenike Tadese, the state Head of the Department of Voter Education and Publicity, calling for orderliness during the event.

The statement fully reads “This is to notify the general public, particularly the good people of Lagos State that The Independent National Electoral Commission Lagos State shall issue Certificates of Return to those who emerged winners during the Governorship / House of Assembly Election held on Saturday 18th March 2023 in the State”, Mrs Tadese stated.

“In view of the above, INEC Lagos State has scheduled Thursday 30th March 2023 for the issuance of the Certificates of Return to the Governor and Deputy Governor-Elect and the elected Members of the State House of Assembly. The event shall take place at the Media Centre, State Office 6, Birrel Avenue, Yaba Lagos by 11:00 am.

“Please note that attendance at the presentation is strictly by invitation. INEC enjoins participants to be orderly and organized during the programme”.

Recall that the electoral umpire in Lagos state declared the incumbent governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his running mate Obafemi Hamzat of the All Progressives Congress as the winners of the governorship poll ahead of Adediran Olajide of Peoples Democratic Party and Gbadebo Vivour Rhoades of the Labour Party, having won 19 local government of the 20 in the state.

Also, the electoral commission recorded that the All Progressives Congress won 38 of the 40 seats in the Lagos House of assembly to claim the majority members of the state legislative arm of government.
