After spending four weeks of vacation in France, the President-elect Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu returned to Nigeria late afternoon on Monday to continue preparations for his inauguration on May 29th, 2023.

During his vacation, Senator Tinubu took some days off for the Umrah which is an Islamic pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia, often called the lesser.

The president-elect and his wife, Oluremi Tinubu were welcomed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja earlier today by the vice president-elect, Senator Kashim Shettima, and other supporters who cheered and hailed him upon his return.

Tinubu and his running mate under the aegis of the All Progressives Congress, Kashim Shettima were declared as the winner of the February 25th general elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission, ahead of Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party and Peter Obi of Labour who came second and third respectively. His victory is currently being challenged at the tribunal by his closest opponents in the elections.

While away, there were different speculations about the circumstances of his departure and his state of health. But, addressing his welcome party today, Senator Tinubu who looked fresh and robust declared that “I am healthy, sound and okay” thereby bursting the balloon of lies concerning his state of health.

Responding to the trail of reaction about his whereabouts, Tinubu’s spokesperson Tunde Rahmon announced on March 22nd, 2023 that his principal had flown out to France to rest and to perform the lesser Hajj in Saudi Arabia after a “hectic” campaign and election season.

Senator Tinubu who is still defending his mandate at the Presidential Election Tribunal has stepped up activities towards a successful transition. Last week, he sent a list of 13 persons to join the already established Transition Committee. The additional hands will be overseeing some specific activities towards a successful hand-over ceremonies.

In his absence, there has been a lot of politicking and jostling for positions especially in the National Assembly. Now that he’s back, the APC National caucus would speedily conclude on the issue of zoning of offices and put to rest agitations for positions which was heating up the polity.
