Claim: A Facebook page claimed that the United States of America Federal Bureau of Investigation has discovered hidden assets linked to the former First Lady of Nigeria, Aisha Buhari.
Verdict: The Claim is False
Full Text: A Facebook page posted a claim circulating that the United States of America Federal Bureau of Investigation has uncovered a $300 million mansion in the UK and a safe vault containing bars valued at nearly $200 million, allegedly belonging to the wife of the former First Lady of Nigeria, Aisha Buhari.
This post, which was posted on 5th November 2025, reads
“The FBI has reportedly discovered vast hidden assets allegedly linked to Nigeria’s former first lady, Aisha Buhari.
Investigators claim to have uncovered $900 million in cash, #1 trillion worth of luxury vehicles, a $300 million mansion in the UK, and a gold vault containing bars valued at nearly $200 million.”
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is the United States of America’s domestic intelligence unit that enforces federal law and investigates a variety of criminal activity, including terrorism, cybercrime, white-collar crimes, public corruption, civil rights violations, and other major crimes.
Aisha Muhammadu Buhari is a Nigerian public figure, humanitarian, author, and advocate who rose to national and international prominence and was the former First Lady to the late President Muhammadu Buhari of the Federal Republic of Nigeria from 2015 to 2023, who died in London at the age of 82 after a long illness.

NDRFactCheck found the claim a major concern due to the corruption allegation linked to public office holders in Nigeria in the past. To check the authenticity, we carry out a check.
Verification:
NDRFactcheck conducted a keyword search and found out that in November 2025, a similar post linking Aisha Buhari was circulating, and it was debunked.
Another report here and here shows that $5 billion in cash and $700 million in Gold were found in Buhari’s New York residence, and that the FBI uncovered that too.
He checked through credible media platforms for reports of such we found none.
Had the Federal Bureau of Investigation discovered $900 million in cash together with the opulent mansion, luxury vehicles, and a gold vault owned by Nigeria’s former first lady, it would have been a major event, yet likely not extensively covered by the Nigerian media.
Conclusion:
There is no evidence that the FBI found millions in money or assets linked to Aisha Buhari, so this claim is false.
