Claim: Governor Charles Soludo is the winner in the ongoing Anambra elections.

Verdict: False

Shortly after accreditation and voting commenced in many centres in the Anambra governorship election polls, an X user @Esteembehemoth at about 9:43 am published information claiming that Governor Charles Soludo is the winner in the ongoing Anambra elections.

This was seen as “Congratulations to Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo @CCSoludo on winning a second term in office as governor of Anambra State.

This was just too easy. Arguably the easiest term renewal (re-election bid) in Nigeria’s election history.”

Verification

As of the time of compiling this report, 4:30 p.m. on November 8th, 2025, sorting and counting were still ongoing across Anambra State. Results would still be taken to the Wards, Local Government Areas and from there proceed to the State Collation Centre before a winner of the election would be known and declared.

In the previous governorship elections, the results were known and the winners declared about twenty-four hours later.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had not declared a winner for the governorship election. It is preposterous that a winner would emerge two hours after the polls opened. Therefore, the announcement is false.
