In the 1 minute 29 seconds long video, Misau is seen addressing the senate on the matter involving the prosecution of Abdulhamid Maina, then Chairman, Police Reform Task Team (PRTT), complaining about the IG’s action, which hindered the Senate from carrying out its investigations.
“This attorney-general is becoming a nuisance, going to court to stop Maina’s, and we are still here.”
“The IG came here with a lawyer that he is not going to answer any questions from the Senate, and after that, he went to institute an order in court restraining the Senate from investigating him,” he said.

VERIFICATION
The video was subjected to verification, and our findings reveal that it is misleading.
Through a Google image search, the Nigerian Senator in the video is identified as Isah Misau, representing Bauchi Central Senatorial District between 2015-2019, during the Late President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration.
We conducted multiple keyword searches and discovered that the video had been on the internet since the year 2018, where Misau reprehended the involvement of the then AGF, Abubakar Malami, in the legal proceedings meant to investigate the allegations brought against Abdulrasheed Maina, then Chairman, Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT)
The media report shows that the video was from a Senate plenary session held on the 16th of January 2018.
In 2021, the court sentenced Maina to 8 years imprisonment for money laundering offences involving N2billion in pension fund after finding him and his company, Common Input Property and Investment Ltd, guilty on all the 12 counts filed against them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
As for the Common Input Property and Investment Ltd.’s punishment, the judge ordered that it should be wound up and its assets forfeited to the federal government.
According to media reports, the judge held that Mr Maina stole over N2 billion belonging to pensioners, “most of whom have died without reaping the fruits of their labour”.
