Fact-Check: Old Video of President Tinubu Circulates as His Recent Arrival from France

Claim: An X user @HonestNarrativ posted an old video of President Tinubu arriving from France.

An X user with the name Real MaziTundeEdnut, on the 29th of September 2026, posted a video of President of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, disembarking an aeroplane, accompanied by someone behind him.

The video has an attached comment: “He’s back but with deformity. “He’s left hand isn’t well.”

It will be recalled that the President went on leave on the 30th of August 2025 to the United Kingdom and later headed to France.

This led to several reactions from political analysts and opposition figures, as the President was out of the country for more than the 21-day limit specified for the transmission of power.

However, the presidency announced on September 21st that he would be staying back for a few more days before he returns by the weekend.

As a result of the claim that the President is back in the country, the post, which has 95.1k views, 238 comments, 110 retweets, and 399 likes, has drawn different reactions here, here, and here.

Verification

NDRFactcheck conducted a Google reverse image search on the screenshotted part of the video. We found out that the video was dated back to January 2026, when the president returned from Türkiye.

Furthermore, a news report from Channelstv on 31st January, 2026, made use of the picture in the video, announcing the return of the President from his trip to Türkiye after a strengthened bilateral meeting.

Conclusion

Findings show that a particular video of President Tinubu’s arrival from France circulating online is an old video, and therefore it is false.
