The claim comes at a time when a bandit attacked on May 16, 2026, in Oriire LGA, Oyo State (neighbouring Osun), where 30 students and teachers were kidnapped, and a teacher was tragically killed.
We noticed that the tweet has attracted 18.7k views, 44 reposts, 18 quotes, and 254 likes, which have been heavily criticised here, here, here, and here; also, some believe it to be true here.
Thus, the nature of this claim is held so important due to the public attention that it has drawn, with protests going on across the country calling on the government to quickly carry out a rescue mission for all the kidnapped persons from Oyo State; it is imperative to conduct a proper investigation to know if there is another attack.
Verification
Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has officially dismissed the reports, reassuring the public that the state’s security apparatus is fully intact and that the invasion claims are entirely baseless.
NDRFactcheck reached out to the spokesperson of the government of Osun State through a WhatsApp message, Mallam Olawale Rasheed; he described the rumour as the handiwork of evil opposition elements and said fact checks from the border areas and across the state confirmed that there was no case of kidnappings.
He said that the governor has reassured the Osun people that his government has taken proactive steps to secure Osun schools, urging the public to ignore recent false alarms about school kidnappings in some parts of the state.
The Osun State Police Command has warned residents against spreading unverified safety alerts on social media. Security forces are currently tracking individuals who fabricated the scare online.
In a telephone conversation with the Police Force Public Relations Officer of the Osun Command, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, debunked to NDRFactcheck that there is no bandit attack in Inisa and Oyan or any part of the state.
Conclusion
Based on verified statements from the Osun State Government and the Osun State Police Command, there is no evidence of any bandit invasion or kidnapping incident in Inisa and Oyan on June 2, 2026.
