On November 5th, 2025, a Facebook page published a statement alleging that the Inspector General of Police has proscribed security outfits operating in Anambra State. The post claimed, “All APGA and Prof Soludo armed groups operating under Agunechemba, Ndi Akodo, and Udogachi have been proscribed by the Inspector General of Police.”

The Anambra State House of Assembly passed the Homeland Security Bill 2025, which establishes the Agunechemba Security Outfit aimed at ensuring internal security and order across the state.

With the Anambra State off-cycle election a few days away, remarks like these could reduce public confidence in the electoral process. Therefore, Ndrfactcheck verifies the truthfulness of the claim.

To corroborate, we contacted a source near the Government House, who refuted the information; He stated that the opposition is creating an issue where none exists, as these actions are standard election procedures. He added that changing the state’s Commissioner of Police and adjusting local security formations before elections are routine practices.

It presents no challenge to the incumbent or benefits to the opposition. It serves only to keep the security system neutral.
