A tweet originating from an X handle  @EmekaGift100, on March 2nd, 2024, stated that the executive  Governor  Abia state, Alex Otti vowed to shock Nigerians by exposing Nigerian Governors as embezzlers.

At the time this claim was being investigated, the post had gathered 201k views, 93 Quotes, 863 Reposts, and 2,128 Likes. Moreover, this claim had been posted on a YouTube video here .titled: NAM OFFICIAL NEWS

The validation of this claim is necessary due to doubts raised by other X users, including @JabTalks and @Oghezeagu. These doubts have the potential to damage the reputation of the Governors and spark political crises among his people, leading to a lack of trust from citizens towards their leaders. This can be seen here and here  Thus, verification was conducted.

To verify the authenticity of this claim, we contacted Mr. Kazie Uko, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Abia State, via WhatsApp.

Mr. Uko promptly responded by labeling the report as fake. He followed his response with a screenshot, refuting the assertion that Governor Otti planned to expose Nigerian State Governors as embezzlers.

To maintain a balance in our investigation, we conducted a keyword search to determine if any reputable news outlets had published the story. incidentally, we found another online source, newsdiaryonline.com, which also debunked the news as false.

In conclusion, the statement made by Emeka Gift regarding Governor Otti’s alleged vow to reveal Nigerian State Governors as thieves is unfounded and untrue.
