In early July, Peter Obi, along with several other political figures in the country, initiated the formation of a coalition aimed at challenging President Bola Tinubu and the ruling party in the upcoming election. Peter Obi may have transitioned from the Labour Party to join the African Democratic Congress as his new political platform. But, he has not formally been seen registering as a member of the Party.
Also, this claim is coming at a time when the Anambra State off-cycle election will be conducted on November 8, 2025 and the Labour Party and its candidate, Dr George Moghalu, are seen as one of the major contenders for the seat of the Governor of Anambra State.
The post has garnered 60 comments, 247 retweets, 1.1k likes and 22.7k views, with the picture of Peter Obi and the party logo of Labour has generated reactions from other tweeps here, here, and here.

NDR FactCheck carried out a check on the social media handles of the Labour Party of the governorship candidate in Anambra for an official statement.
A phone contact was found on the official Facebook page of Dr. Moghalu. Upon reaching out via WhatsApp, it was clarified that the information in question was false. The response stated: “This is obviously fake news. This issue has long been laid to rest. That tweet was made on the 3rd of July and has been properly addressed.”
Furthermore, in a post on the X handle of the Dr Moghalu Governor candidate, he refutes that it is not true and that this is coming from those who are threatened by the strength of his popularity.
