The third arm of government now has a substantive head as President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday, administered oath of office on Justice Olukayode Ariwoola as the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN)and head of the judiciary.
Justice Ariwoola was appointed as acting CJN on June 27,this year while the Senate confirmed him as CJN on September 21.
The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Council Chambers of the State House, Abuja.
The event was witnessed by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo , other Justices of the Supreme Court as well as the governor of Oyo state, Engr Seyi Makinde, and his Ondo state counterpart, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN), Ministers and other members of the Federal Executive Council.
Justice Ariwoola was appointed Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria on June 27, 2022 following the resignation of Justice Tanko Muhammad, on health grounds
