17 Political Parties Field Candidates for Ondo Guber Election

The October 10, 2020, governorship election in Ondo State will be contested by 17 political parties which have fielded candidates who will participate in the contest. Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) unveiled the final list of candidates after the expiration of deadline for the substitution of candidates. The October 10, 2020, governorship election in Ondo State will be contested by 17 political parties which have fielded candidates who will participate in the contest.

Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) unveiled the final list of candidates after the expiration of deadline for the substitution of candidates. Only four parties utilised the substitution window including PDP, ADC, ZLP.

The only female on the list is 50-year old Mrs Okunade Taiwo, the candidate of Labour Party. There are, however, a couple of other women serving as deputy governorship candidates.

The candidates, their running mates and their political parties as unveiled by INEC include the incumbent governor Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu of the All Peoples Congress (APC) and his running mate, Mr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa. As well as his arch rival Mr. Eyitayo Olayinka Jegede of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and his running mate, Gboluga Dele Ikengboju.

Other candidates and their running mates are: Mr. Rotimi Adeleye Akindejoye and Akinyemi Bibiresanmi of the Accord party; Mr. Joshua Oluwafemi Adewole, and Ogunleye Agboola Williams of the Action Alliance (AA); Mr. Adeleye Adekunle Peter and Samuel Tope Omotoso of the African Action Congress (AAC); Mr. Adelegan Adedapo Oluwaseyi and Mrs Olaitan Oladeinde Bolaji Bolanle of African Democratic Congress (ADC); and Mr. Martin Kunle Olateru-Olagbegi as well as Akintoye Cornelius of the Action Democratic Party (ADP)

The list also include Mr. Olowoloba Dele and Babalola Aderemi of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA); Mr. Aminu Akeem Olanrewaju and Omoyeni Taiwo Seyi of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM); Mr. Adesanya Olaoluwa and Omoyeni Taiwo Seyi will be the flag bearers of Action Peoples Party (APP); Mr. Okunade Taiwo and Ibitoye Adebowale of the Labour Party (LP); Mr. Ojajuni Joseph Eniola and Aroge Bayode Sunday of New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP); Mr. Funmilayo Jenyo Ataunoko and Mrs Mafimisebi Adetutu of National Rescue Movement (NRM); Mr. Babatunde Francis Alli and Mr. Oladele Paul Oluwaseun of Peoples Redemption Party (PRP); Mr. Fasua Peter Oyeleye and Mrs Ajayi Rachael Olufunmilayo of Social Democratic Party (SDP); Mr. Ojon Dotun and Mrs Hajarat Dupe Usman representing the Young Progressive Party (YPP) and the incumbent Deputy Governor Agboola Alfred Ajayi and Adegbenro Gboye Emmanuel of Zenith Labour Party (ZLP)
