Protests Welcome Buhari to London…They Are Agents of Looters Says Presidency

President Muhammadu Buhari’s arrival in London on Monday was greeted barely 24 hours later by protesting Nigerians. President Muhammadu Buhari’s arrival in London on Monday was greeted barely 24 hours later by protesting Nigerians. Early Tuesday morning, protesters besieged the Nigerian House in Kessington, London, carrying placards with different demands.

Buhari who left Nigeria nine days ahead of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, had announced to the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) his intention to seek re-election into office in 2019.

The protesters who carried different placards are against the President’s re-election bid. Similar protests greeted the President in London last year over his long stay in the United Kingdom for medical attention.

This time around, the President is in the United Kingdom for official engagements.Among other activities, the President is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Teresa May and perform other official functions.
The Presidency has however, described the protest in London as plan by “Nigerian looters” to disrupt the ongoing official visit of President Muhammadu Buhari.

According to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), sources in the presidency told State House correspondents on Tuesday night that the alleged looters had rented motley crowd of professional demonstrators to protest against President Buhari on his arrival to London.

He quoted security sources as revealing that the protesters were bent on embarrassing and humiliating Buhari throughout his stay in the UK.

According to him, the protesters have vowed to take their demonstrations to the venue of Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting holding later in the month in Britain which Buhari is attending.
