With the goal of achieving transparency and accountability, AdvoKC, a youth-led non-governmental organization, has developed a metric to track the performance of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s newly inaugurated administration over the course of the next four years.
In a statement, the civil society organization noted that the “BAT-O-Meter” metric was introduced to track the president’s fulfillment of 100 key commitments and to raise Nigerians’ overall awareness of the current administration.
The NGO added that in order to follow up on the existence of information on government agencies and parastatals, the metric will involve both physical tracking and the use of the Freedom of Information Act. The group also noted that it will be publishing periodic reports on its discoveries on government performance.

“We are thrilled to announce the launch of AdvoKC’s BAT-O-Meter! As Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu takes the oath of office today, we embark on a journey to track and advocate for the 100 most important promises made by our new President for the betterment of Nigeria.
“The BAT-O-Meter is a powerful tool promoting transparency, accountability, and progress in our great nation. With this initiative, AdvoKC ensures that promises made remain at the forefront of our collective consciousness.
“Our team will diligently monitor and assess each promise, covering education, healthcare, infrastructure, employment, security, and more. The BAT-O-Meter provides real-time updates, fostering accountability and driving positive change.
“We have a responsibility to hold our leaders accountable. The BAT-O-Meter empowers every Nigerian to actively participate in governance. Let’s build a stronger, prosperous future together! We define a promise as a prospective statement of an action or outcome that is verifiable.
“All of our promises list the source. We track this promises physically as we have a team of volunteers for this project and will be there for the next 4 years, We also use the FOI act and reliable news sources.
“We use the Politifact style of rating, the promise meters have six ratings. The first three provide a broad picture of whether the official is making progress; the final three indicate whether he or she kept the promise.
“Every promise begins at this level and retains this rating until we see evidence of progress or evidence that the promise has stalled. IN THE WORKS — This indicates the promise has been proposed or is being considered.
