On Tuesday January 12, 2016, Frank Sellin, Deputy Public Affairs Officer, U.S. Consulate General Lagos at a Media tweet-a-thon organized by the International Press Centre with support of the Public Affairs Section, U.S Consulate General, Lagos noted that corruption thrives when government fails to reveal information about what is being done, advising that government should endeavour to publish the information concerning its activities in order to enhance transparency as transparency helps break the chain of corruption.
Speaking on the theme: International Best Practices in Transparency in Government and the role of the media, Sellin noted that “transparency is a crucial way to break the chain of corruption.
“Governments become unstable when they muzzle the media. They become blind to the problems of the people and the solutions.
