…INEC Uploads Mock Accreditation Results to IReV
To gird its loins against technological glitches, the Independent National Electoral Commission, conducted mock accreditation exercises in the three states of Kogi, Imo and Bayelsa where governorship elections would hold on November 11.
The INEC monitoring team to Kogi state was led by its Chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu the mock accreditation in Kogi State ahead of the November 11 governorship election in Bayelsa and Imo states.
INEC officials were in the three states to put to test the equipment to be deployed on election day as way of boosting voter confidence in the commission’s activities. During the exercise, INEC official verified registered voters with the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) in preparation for the election.
Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, visited the Commission’s Koton Karfe Local Government Office, as part of his Readiness Assessment visit to Kogi State. While there, he met with security officials and inspected the non-sensitive election materials already batched for the governorship election.
Accreditation was monitored at Ward 1, Polling Unit 12, Crowder Memorial College, Lokoja earlier today during the Mock Accreditation organised by INEC in preparation for the Kogi Governorship Election scheduled for 11th November 2023.
Similar mock accreditation exercise took place randomly in selected polling units in Bayelsa state. In the one monitored at Peletia Town Hall, Yenagoa, Local Government Area, registered voters could be seen queuing up for accreditation.
Holds Special Security Meeting Next Week
The Chairman of INEC while addressing the press after going round several polling units in Kogi state hinted of a special security meeting with all the security agencies next week in Abuja.
Security has been one of the major concerns of INEC with the coming elections. There has been multiple reports of violence and threats of violence in the three states.
Only on Wednesday, a Labour Party chieftain, Engr Goodnews Onyemzoroegbulem was assassinated by unknown assailants in Obinze, Owerri the Imo state capital.
INEC Uploads Oct 14 Mock Accreditation Results to IReV
Meanwhile the simulation exercise of today involved the utilization of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and the uploading of polling unit results (of the exercise) to the INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV).
The primary purpose of this mock accreditation was to assess and verify the performance of the BVAS and upgraded IReV systems simultaneously in the three states, ensure that the BVAS operates flawlessly and ascertain that the process of uploading polling unit results to IReV is efficient and reliable.
INEC has urged the general public and all stakeholders interested in reviewing the data related to the BVAS accreditation and the results uploaded during the mock accreditation can now visit: http://results-uat.incportals.com
The mock accreditation exercise demonstrates the Commission’s commitment to conducting fair, transparent and credible elections in Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi States.
By proactively addressing potential threats and fine-tuning the systems, the Commission aims at ensuring the smooth conduct of the elections and upholding the integrity of the democratic process in the three states.
