Full Text:
A Facebook page on the 25th July 2024, was seen to have released a video claiming that, the most successful businessman in all of Africa Aliko Dangote announced a new mobile application. It was said that the application broke all installation records and has already made 12,000 people richer. It also claimed that the probability of winning is 97% greater than in other applications.

In the video, Dangote was seen saying that he developed this mobile application with full transparency and compliance with all licenses putting all their energy and passion into the application. Every user can count on significant winnings and enjoy the gaming process. The video was seen to be broadcast by a popular journalist, Maope Ogun-Yusuf using the name of Channels Television.

It was seen that he claimed that it was the fulfillment of a long-time dream and an opportunity to give something back to his beloved country for the years of support and faith in me. All these were used through the name of Dangote and the name of Channels Television to broadcast.

The video and its full transcription are attached  here and here.

However, the cause of checking the veracity of this video is a result of the name of the individual, and the brand name used to broadcast the information. Additionally, the video has gained significant traction. As of the time of writing this report, the video has 4.1k likes, 468 comments, 333 shares, and 791k views.

There were also reactions from the comment section: “ Let’s report the video guys…that’s the best way to stop their mission”, “Beautiful with scammers! Run for ur life”, “This is AI developed video. Don’t be deceived”, “Omo this video is doctored with a hybrid Al generator, trust me” etc.

Can the pages and the casino platform be trusted? The NDR fact-checker checked.

Verification:

In the check, we found out that the Facebook page has no engagement on the page. Going through the profile, it was seen that the page was created on 9th March 2024. We also noticed that the page in question has picture or video content on the page, as it is so dry for an assumed busy page or platform.

We visited Channels Television social media accounts. Its verified Facebook page was created on 30th  January 2011 and has more than 4M followers. We found nothing about the Dangote Casino game platform video on the official page.

Also we searched through all social media accounts of Dangote here, here, and  here, we found nothing of such.

However, we reached out to these two entities to get a first-hand response by sending an email to them, as at the time of filing this report there was no response.
Conclusion:

Our finding shows that the launched casino game is from Dangote and the broadcast from Channels Television is not true, but rather fabricated video with the use of deepfake.
