Claim: NDRFactcheck saw a link circulating across social media platforms claiming that the Federal Government is giving out a N50,000 cash transfer without a BVN.
Verdict: False
Full Text
A link circulating on WhatsApp claims that the Federal Government is offering ₦50,000 cash transfers without requiring a BVN.
In late October 2026, the Federal Government launched the National Emergency Relief and Stabilisation Intervention (NERSI), a ₦50,000 monthly cash support scheme. Announced by Minister Doro, the presidential initiative reportedly targets vulnerable households. Scammers are exploiting this genuine programme.
According to the text attached to the link, the cash transfer is available to all Nigerians.
NDRFactcheck therefore believes that verifying this claim protects Nigerians from fraud, counters a scam exploiting a genuine government programme, and helps people confirm legitimate relief payments.
Verification
Understanding why the message is false
First, we checked for official statements from the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs; it’s not for “all Nigerians”.
The official site says it is for poor and vulnerable households, with beneficiaries selected through verified national identity records and the National Social Register, which means you can’t just sign up through a link.
Second, the domain isn’t the official website. billnova.online is not a government address.
Using the phishing website AI detector who.is shows that it was developed with the free domain name Blogspot on October 7th, 2026, giving the impression of a new website.
Conclusion
The link is a phishing scam on a new, unofficial domain; NERSI beneficiaries are notified by SMS, not links, therefore it is False
