A Facebook Kunle Wizeman Ajayi on 4th November 2026 posted an image of the Presidential Candidate of Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) Peter Obi the hospital bed with an IV drip, a cervical collar, a vital-signs monitor, and a thumbs-up.

The post was accompanied by a write-up that reads, “Na small neck fracture, o. 😆 Peter Obi run go London claiming exhaustion.” Why didn’t he go to the teaching hospital he built at Awka? Yet, Sowore was injured but still led protests a few days after. #VoteAAC #VoteSowore #RevolutionNow”.

NDRFactcheck observed that the post gained traction, prompting verification due to the uncertainty surrounding it.

Verification 

We carried out a step-by-step analysis of the claim through a Google search prompt

“Peter Obi ran to London, claiming exhaustion.”

According to a report published by Vanguard Newspaper, NDC deputy spokesman Sam Omale attributed concerns about Obi’s health to exhaustion from the campaign schedule and said he is in good health.

He mentioned London only as part of Obi’s schedule, saying he is in London one night and Enugu the next morning.

Another publication by The Tribune Newspaper reported that Obi’s spokesman, Idris Zekeri, called the report completely false and said the images were doctored and malicious, and said he was with Obi at about 7 am that Sunday when Obi boarded a flight for an international engagement
