On 4 August 2026, Facebook user Ogbeni Yakubu Atanda posted a video of President Bola Tinubu speaking at a meeting with the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, and members of the Oyo State Traditional Council.
A follow-up comment on the video claimed that the President was referring to a bridge built by Governor Ademola Adeleke at Lameco in the state capital for ₦20 billion.
The comment stated, “Obviously, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was talking about Governor Adeleke of Osun State, who built a N20 Billion Flyover where there is no serious traffic.”
It further concludes that:
“LAMECO flyover is a waste of resources.”

Before the post, the Lameco Flyover, commissioned by the Osun State Government, had recently drawn public attention due to reported structural concerns and political exchanges between the state’s ruling and opposition parties over the bridge’s durability.
Lameco is a 672-metre Flyover Bridge in Osogbo, Osun State, commissioned by Governor Ademola Adeleke on July 1, 2026. Barely three weeks later, a section of the bridge sustained structural damage and developed a depression following heavy rainfall, leading to its temporary closure for urgent repairs. [
Other Facebook users, who believe it is not true, criticised the post.
NDRFactcheck noted that during election periods, political actors and supporters often link national statements to local controversies. Presenting such opinions as facts can mislead voters and distort public understanding of political events.
Verification
A transcript of the original video shows that the President was making a general statement to governors nationwide, not addressing any specific governor or state.
Tinubu, while speaking, said:
Governors should “stop building flyovers where there is no numeric traffic” and instead invest in roads and infrastructure that improve accessibility, security, and citizens’ quality of life.
Supporting the finding was a publication from BusinessDay on 31 July 2026 in its headline “Tinubu to Governors: Stop building flyovers where there is no traffic”.
The President made the statement while talking about governance priorities and how to increase revenue allocations to states.
We saw that his comments were directed broadly at state governments and were not linked to Osun State, Governor Adeleke, or the Lameco Flyover.
Conclusion
The evidence shows no link between President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s remark and Governor Ademola Adeleke or the Lameco Flyover in Osogbo. His statement was a general appeal to governors to stop building flyovers where there is no traffic.
