Full Story
Earlier in July 2026, Ozonna Soludo, son of Anambra State Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, drew social media attention after posting a video of himself dancing and singing to a song that criticised Nigerian politicians, including President Bola Tinubu and his father.
In the video, Ozonna sang the lyrics, “Tinubu, shame unto you, all power belongs to Jesus.” The clip drew mixed reactions online, with many users surprised that he danced to a song mentioning both the President and his father.
A Facebook user, Nnaemeka DesmondPraise, wrote, “He is now the headline of all Nigerian newspapers.” Another user, Justice Crack, commented on Instagram, “It’s really embarrassing to see the son of a former CBN Governor and the current Governor of Anambra State doing this, especially while listening to a song that says, ‘Shame on you.'”
Less than 48 hours after the video surfaced, another claim circulated on social media, alleging that Governor Soludo had disowned his son over the viral dance.
The post attributed the following statement to the governor:
“I will arrest anyone who calls Ozo my son. He is not my son. I disowned him years ago, and he is no longer a member of the Soludo family. I don’t know him, and he doesn’t know me.”

By July 7, the post had received more than 555,000 views and hundreds of comments. Some users accepted the claim, while others questioned whether the governor had made the statement.
The viral claim prompted NDRFactCheck to verify its authenticity.
Verification
NDRFactCheck found that several social media accounts had shared the claim. BiafraNews, Hausawa and Instagram pages.
Searches found no credible media report carrying the alleged statement, and it did not appear on the governor’s verified social media accounts or official government channels.
Although Ozonna Soludo has not publicly explained the viral video, he has previously expressed political views that differ from his father’s. During the 2023 presidential election, he publicly declared support for Peter Obi, distancing himself from his father’s political stance.
In 2023, Ozonna also revealed on social media that he had taken odd jobs to fund his music career, presenting himself as an independent artist. His public disagreements with his father may have helped fuel false narratives about their relationship.
There is no evidence to support the viral claim that Governor Soludo ever disowned his son. Instead, publicly available videos show the governor dancing to one of Ozonna’s songs, suggesting support for his music career.
NDRFactCheck, therefore, found no evidence that Governor Chukwuma Soludo disowned Ozonna Soludo over the viral dance video or at any other time. The statement attributed to the governor is fabricated.
Verdict: The claim is Unproven.
