A viral post circulated early on election day that some election observers deployed by Yiaga Africa were teargassed by the personnel of the Nigeria Police at the INEC office in Ihiala local government.

Ndrfactcheck contacted Yiaga Africa regarding the attack to verify its accuracy. The Programme Manager of Yiaga Africa, Cynthia Mbamalu, stated that the observers concerned are not from YIAGA.
